Not far from Princeton NJ is a lovely little town called Cranbury. If you love old homes, history and picture perfect towns to take a leisurely stroll through, then stop by Cranbury and see for yourself.

They have a wonderful museum filled with many items from the areas prolific agricultural history worth seeing. Many restaurants to have a delicious lunch or dinner after your tour are on Main Street. The historic Cranbury Inn is one place worth a visit. My favorite past-time in town is to sit by the (Brainerd Lake) that looks out onto a spectacular home sitting on its banks. All year is nice time to visit but I find the town comes alive when many homes on Maine street decorate in the fall for Halloween, The Fourth of July and Christmas.

This painting is in the private collection of the artist and can be seen at his studio in Hightstown

Transform your home into a magical night scene painting by artist Robert Hummel

Not far from Princeton Nj is the town Hightstown where I also have studio space at the Art Station Studios http://www.artstationstudios.com/

This photo has been tranformed into a magical night scene for the owners of a Hightstown NJ home. In this painting, day turns to night with a sky full of stars and a full moon to light up this beautiful property which adds a warm and cozy feeling. Although the flowering trees, pink Cherry Blossom and the spectacularly flowering Franklinia tree, were not in bloom at the time of the photo, by request of my client I added the blossoms to add color and interest. This painting will hang at their second home on the West coast to help them reflect back on their memories in Hightstown.

Moon Over McCarter Theater

This painting has been sold to a couple who has a subscription to McCarter. They are placing it in thier second home in Maine.

If you have not attended a performance at McCarter, what are you waiting for. Some of the greats who have graced the stage there were Lucile Ball and Christopher Reeves to just name a few. Patrons to this theater included Mr. Albert Einstein who lived not far on 112 Mercer Street. Do not miss a chance to see their yearly production of a Christmas Carol. Visit http://www.mccarter.org/ for more info.

Princeton Sacred Heart Academy

This was the third year that I attended the "en plein air painting" event hosted by this private boys school and organized by Sandra Tasca. Artists that enjoy painting outdoors and on location showed up early that October morning to paint scenes from this school.

I chose to paint the school building while others focused on a Gothic Manor House.

This painting was sold that day to the parents of a child who attended the academy. They told me it would be one of his Christmas gifts. A painting of his school in my colorful style of painting seems as if it was just taken from the pages of a story book, I hope he enjoyed it.

Notice the reflection I added in the moon at the last moment. I'll See you there next October.

Christmas On Palmer Square by Artist Robert Hummel

The Christmas Season begins in Princeton the day after Thanksgiving when a spectacular 65 foot Norwegian Spruce, wrapped with over 32,000 lights, is lit in front of the historic Nassau Inn. On this festive occasion the community gathers at Palmer Square, as children and adults alike come out to celebrate the Holiday Season.“There’s no place like Princeton for the Holidays” Smoke billowing from the Inn's chimney with the towns Christmas tree aglow as it begins to snow while sipping a cup of hot chocolate. This is where you will find me. Experience it for yourself and enjoy.

A Spring Evening at the Nassau Inn - Painting

This painting features the historic Nassau Inn on Palmer Square in downtown Princeton NJ. I am attracted to the evening lights and how buildings magically transform after the sun sets. The warm glow from within these buildings evoke a relaxed feeling for me as I stroll past them.

History: Since 1756 the Nassau Inn has been a gathering place of distinction, and well known for its gracious hospitality and eligant facilities. Visit www.nassauinn.com for more information on this premier hotel.

Kingston Mill

Not far from the center of downtown Princeton you will find an old Roller Mill which in 1910 advertised five grades of delicious flour. This mill building is the only one still standing along the Millstone River. Located in Kingston, this impressive mill is now a private residence but can be viewed from a stone bridge as well as listening and enjoying the soothing sounds of the connected water fall that flows beside it. One has to wonder about all the stories this structure must hold within its walls.
This painting by artist Robert Hummel has been sold but another larger version available for sale.
Mural size paintings of "Princeton are available for Restaurants or corporate facilities. Imagine a series of five large 5x5 foot images from Princeton to decorate the walls of your facility. If interested contact Robert Hummel via his email.

Painting Title: Nassau Street

Across from the main gate of Princeton University you will find this impressive Tudor style building commissioned in 1896 by Moses Taylor Pyne. The warm glow from within on any evening beckons one toward this window to view the treasures inside. At Christmas this delightful building is decorated with ribbons and wreaths and at other times of the year, flowers hanging below each window. It has become one of Princeton's favorite and most recognized landmarks.

Painting Title: A Night On Nassau Street
As day transforms into night in Princeton, the windows light up and cast a magical glow from within. This is one of my favorite times to take a stroll through town as the glow from within creates a calm and soothing feeling after a long day.

This painting that I call "Night on Nassau Street" features the spectacular Tudor style building on the corner of Witherspoon and Nassau Street. Financier and university trustee Moses Taylor Pyne tried to reinvent Princeton's main thoroughfare as the high street of an English Village. In 1896 he commissioned this Tudor revival building on Nassau Street. This impressive Princeton landmark still stands today with apartments above that overlook the University and with a jewelry store (Hamilton Jewelers) below.

This original painting has sold but limited signed Ciglee prints are now available by calling or emailing. Contact me at 609-571-2200
